MARICHU Bacaro turned back the clock, scoring 21 points to lead Taguig to a 68-51 win over Glutagence on Sunday in the Pia Cayetano WNBL Season 2021 at the Bren Z. Guiao Convention Center in San Fernando, Pampanga.
Bacaro, the 2008 UAAP MVP out of University of Santo Tomas, hit key shots as the Lady Generals climbed to a share of second place with the Glow Boosters on a 4-3 win-loss record after their penultimate game of the elimination round.
The Lady Generals went on a 7-0 run to close the second quarter with the 36-year-old Bacaro scoring a fastbreak lay-up during that stretch to head into the break up, 37-31.
Bacaro also finished the third with five straight points including a triple with 1:09 left in the third as Taguig grabbed a commanding 57-41 lead.
Wiz Duazo added 12 points and nine rebounds. Her three-point play gave the Lady Geenrals a 63-42 spread, their biggest of the game.
The Glutagence loss spoiled the return of Khate Castillo, who played for Gilas Pilipinas in the Fiba Women’s Asian Cup in Jordan. Castillo had a team-high 15 points including three threes in the first quarter that gave the Glow Boosters a 14-8 lead.
