SPORTSMAN and restaurateur Vincent 'Vic Vic' Villavicencio passed away on Monday night after a heart attack.

    He was 67.

Villavicencio, brother of former TnT Katropa team manager and MVP Group media bureau chief Virgil Villavicencio, was the man behind the Kamayan chain of restaurants who introduced the big buffet set-up in the country through Saisaki, Dad's, and later on, Sambokojin.

But he was also a known sports lover who was involved in golf, fishing and of course, basketball.

Villavicencio, cousin of PBA board chairman and Philippine Olympic Committee (POC) President Ricky Vargas, once owned the Triple V basketball team in the defunct Philippine Basketball League (PBL) which established a heated rivalry with Sta. Lucia in the early 90s.

Coached by Derick Pumaren, the team won a couple of championships with a lineup that had the likes of Johnny Abarrientos, Vic Pablo, Dwight,Elmer Lago, Vernie and Victor Villarias, and Noli Locsin, among others.

He was likewise among the major backers of the La Salle Green Archers team when his brother Virgil coached the team in 1994 and 95.

"He was a businessman who really loves sports," said Virgil of his brother.

His remains currently lies at the Christ The King Church in Greenmeadows.

    Interment will be announced later.
