ILAGAN, Isabela – CJ Cansino returns to active duty for Meralco as he’s been lined up for Saturday’s rematch with the Macau Black Bears in the EASL Home and Away Season 3.
Cansino twisted his ankle in the Bolts’ final game in the PBA Philippine Cup prior to the FIBA window break, where they lost a close one to TNT, 100-98.
He played for just 15 minutes and was held to eight points – almost half of his team-high 17.0 points.
The injury kept him out of the Bolts’ last three games in the EASL, including their back-to-back wins against the Taoyuan Pauian Pilots and the Macau Black Bears.

“He hurt his ankle in our last game and kept him sidelined for a while,” said Meralco coach Luigi Trillo.
“But he’s now OK. He’s been practicing with us for a while now and he’s ready to go.”
The addition of Cansino and naturalized player Justin Brownlee gives Meralco a different look in its second outing against the Black Bears on Saturday night at the Capital Arena.
Aside from the two, also in the Bolts’ lineup are imports Rondae Hollis-Jefferson and Ismael Romero, Chris Newsome, Cliff Hodge, Raymond Almazan, Brandon Bates, Bong Quinto, Chris Banchero, Aaron Black, and Asian import Sina Vahedi.
The second running Bolts (2-2 in Group B] will be up against a Macau side (0-1) which is bringing back 7-foot-6 Malta player Sam Deguara.
