Paul Desiderio double-double powers UP Maroons past St. Benilde Blazers

PAUL Desiderio had 22 points and 10 rebounds as University of the Philippines defeated College of St. Benilde, 77-70, on Sunday in the Filoil Flying V Preseason Premier Cup.

Desiderio's double-double lifted the Fighting Maroons to their second victory in as many outings.

"I can't say I'm really happy with the win that we had. I think we could have done better in trying to adjust with what Benilde is doing against us, especially against their pressure defense," said UP coach Bo Perasol.

Rob Ricafort added 12 points for the Maroons, who survived a second quarter where they scored only nine points.

Clement Leutcheu finished with 18 points, 11 rebounds, and two blocks for the Blazers, who slipped to 1-4.
