Rhayyan Amsali returns to lift NU Bullpups over winless Lyceum Junior Pirates

RHAYYAN Amsali had 30 points and nine rebounds as National University defeated Lyceum, 103-95, on Friday in the juniors division of the Filoil Flying V Preseason Premier Cup in San Juan.

Amsali, fresh from stint with the Philippine team in the Fiba Asia U18 3x3 Cup in Malaysia, returned to deliver for his school, lifting the Bullpups to their third win in four outings in the preseason tournament.

Miguel Oczon, a new recruit from Chiang Kai Shek College, scored 16 points, while Winderlich Coyoca added 12 points for the Bullpups, who nearly squandered their big lead after being outscored by the Junior Pirates, 37-22, in the third.

Batang Gilas standout McLaure Guadana scored 20 points for the Junior Pirates, winless in two games.

In the other juniors match, Far Eastern University defeated University of the East, 83-75.

Xyrus Torres had 16 points, while LJ Gonzales chipped in 15 as the Baby Tamaraws upped their record to 4-1.

The Junior Warriors are still winless in five games.
