RUNNING up and down the court is usually a guard's strong suit.

But not for San Sebastian’s returning playmaker Renzo Navarro - at least in the shape that he is in right now.

While the former Batang Gilas stalwart's skills are undoubtedly impressive, Stags coach Egay Macaraya said the 5-foot-7 Navarro has yet to be fit enough to keep up with the team's fast-paced offense.

"Si Renzo naman wala namang problema sa kanya, batang Baste yan e. The only thing is he has to be fit para sa takbuhan," said Macaraya after the team's 76-68 win over Benilde in the Filoil Premier Cup.

"Medyo nahihirapan pa siya kasi kailangan namin tumakbo dahil maliliit kami. Wala kaming ibang way para manalo."

Navarro, who returned to San Sebastian after a one-year stint with La Salle, admitted he is still trying to get in sync with his teammates.

And it was evident in Wednesday's match as he finished with three points and five rebounds in 13 minutes of play.

"Maraming adjustment pa rin kasi galing ako residency. Nag-aadjust pa ako pero sa tulong ng coaches at teammates ko, makaka-adjust naman ako," he said.

But he is confident he will achieve top form sooner than later.

"Kailangan ko pa lang talaga magpa-kondisyon at ma-achieve yung game weight ko. Siguro ngayon mga, 70 percent to 80 percent pa lang ako sa gusto ko," he said.
