JERIE Pingoy reminded everyone what made him one of the highly touted prospects in college ball with some clutch heroics for his new team Adamson in a preseason win over Arellano.

Pingoy took over at crunch time to lead the Falcons past the Chiefs in an overtime thriller, 61-56, in the Filoil Flying V Premier Preseason Cup on Monday.

The Cebuano guard scored all seven of his points at crunchtime, including a three-pointer with 20 seconds left in regulation to tie the game at 48 at the end of regulation.

He went head-to-head with Chiefs star Kent Salado in extra time, draining back-to-back baskets including the go-ahead bucket with 58.3 seconds.

Pingoy insisted that there's no added pressure - or motivation - for his part after sitting out yet another year in Season 79 - the third year that he's spent in residency.

He is set to be eligible to play for the Falcons this season.

The former UAAP Juniors MVP was involved in a highly publicized separation with Far Eastern University, forcing him to sit two years before getting a chance to play for Ateneo.

After spending an underwhelming year with Ateneo, Pingoy was on the move again - this time to San Marcelino, requiring him another year on the sidelines for his eligibility.

"Wala naman, hindi naman. Basta ako naglalaro lang. Nagfo-follow lang kami sa system. It was a great win para sa team namin," Pingoy continued.

"Credit din talaga sa teammates ko. Nandyan sila na sumusuporta sa akin."

The Adamson newcomer deflected all the credit to Adamson's coaching staff led by Franz Pumaren.

"Sa tingin ko, dahil kay Coach Franz yun, binibigyan niya ako ng kumpyansa na makabalik sa court," said Pingoy.

"All credit kay coach talaga, sa lahat ng coaching staff, pina-practice namin yun araw-araw. Nanalo kami dahil finollow namin ang system," he added.
