Mocon shakes off fatigue after Gilas duty, helps San Beda deal La Salle its first loss

SAN Beda dealt La Salle its first loss in the Filoil Flying V Premier Cup after escaping with a 72-70 win on Monday in San Juan.

JV Mocon showed little signs of fatigue after playing for the Gilas cadets in an earlier game, going 31 minutes and leading from the front as the Red Lions notched their third win in five games.

Mocon nailed three free throws with 48.8 seconds to break a 68-68 deadlock before Donald Tankoua made some crucial defensive plays in the endgame to seal the Archers' first loss in seven games.

Tankoua blocked Taane Samuel's attempt before forcing a steal on the inbounds, leading to a free throw.

Mocon finished with 20 points on 7-of-14 shooting to go along six rebounds, three assists and two steals. Tankoua added nine points, eight rebounds and three steals while Eugene Toba and Kemark Carino chipped in eight apiece.

Former Red Cub Andrei Caracut led the way for the Archers with 20 points as Samuel and Justin Baltazar added 13 each.
