Mac Belo, Raymar Jose shine as Tamaraws outsteady Knights

MAC Belo scored 21 points, Raymar Jose added 18 points, and Far Eastern University scored its first win in the 2015 Filoil Flying V Hanes Premier Cup, downing Letran, 80-75, on Wednesday in San Juan City.

The Tamaraws evened their record to 1-1 in Group A.

Jojo Trinidad buried a three and Jose scored inside for a 66-63 lead with 4:06 left in the fourth to put FEU in front for good.

A a four-point play by Mark Cruz pushed Letran to within 75-76, but Trinidad sank two crucial free throws to extend the lead to three. Paul Calvo failed to convert on a triple on the next Letran possession.

“Obviously, we are not so happy with the way we played especially on defense. Marami kaming breakdowns. A lot of things to do for us,” FEU coach Nash Racela said.

Russel Escoto had 12 points while Monbert Arong finished with 11 points for FEU, which also got 13 rebounds from Prince Orizu and seven assists from Mike Tolomia.

Mark Cruz had 25 points, and Rey Nambatac scored 23 points for Letran, which dropped to 1-2.
