KENT Salado took charge to give Arellano University its first taste of a triumph in the Filoil Flying V Preseason Premier Cup at the expense of Emilio Aguinaldo College, 95-90, on Monday.

Playing at full strength from the get-go, Salado exploded for 30 points to go with nine rebounds, eight assists, and two steals for the Chiefs, which scored their breakthrough victory after a horrible 0-3 start.

Salado also hit the biggest basket of the game with 1:19 left to give the Chiefs a 94-86 advantage,  which was enough to douse the Generals' last hurrah behind Francis Munsayac and Jerome Garcia.

Munsayac and Garcia tried to salvage the game for the Generals but couldn't convert after pulling to within four, 90-94, in the final minute.

Kraniel Villoria put the finishing touches with a split from the free throw line.

Lervin Flores had 18 points, 15 rebounds, and five blocks, while Zach Nicholls and Jamike Canete scored 13 points each.

"Ang laking bagay ng panalo. It validates what AU can do. Pag talo kasi, nade-drain ka kahit sabihin mong learning curve. Hirap maghanap ng positive sa talo," said Arellano coach Jerry Codinera.

Munsayac and Sidney Onwubere paced the Generals with 27 and 25 points, respectively.

EAC fell to 2-4.

The scores:
