Red Lions rip hapless Tigers to stay unbeaten in five games

SAN Beda blasted University of Santo Tomas, 86-59, in the Filoil Flying V Preseason Premier Cup on Sunday in San Juan.

The Red Lions remained unscathed five games while dealing the Tigers their sixth loss in seven outings.

No Red Lion finished in double figures but their balanced attack allowed them to take a commanding 24-10 lead after the opening quarter.

The lead ballooned to 78-52 on Franz Abuda's basket with under two minutes left in the game.

"It’s a character test for us today, they started really strong, the starters dictated the tempo and everybody goes along with the starters," said San Beda coach Boyet Fernandez, who fielded in 20 players.

"We gave everybody a chance to play, all players played well today."

Javee Mocon led San Beda's scorers with nine points to go with four rebounds, two assists, and three steals.

Arnaud Noah and Robert Bolick combined for 15 points.

Jeept Faundo paced the Tigers with 14 points and seven rebounds.
