LA SALLE battles Jose Rizal University in a UAAP against NCAA-themed opening day on May 1 of the Filoil Flying V Preseason Premier Cup at the Filoil Flying V Centre in San Juan.

The reigning UAAP and Filoil champion Green Archers test the mettle of the Heavy Bombers at 1:30 p.m. to open the tripleheader on Labor Day.

Ateneo takes on Lyceum at 3:15 p.m., while Adamson collides with Arellano at 5:30 p.m.

“It’s more or less an NCAA versus UAAP theme ‘yung opening day,” said Filoil Flying V Preseason Premier Cup tournament director Joey Guillermo during Tuesday’s Philippine Sportswriters Association Forum at the Golden Phoenix Hotel.

“What we see here is we are being taken seriously by all the schools now. We see a competitive season,” said Guillermo.

For the first time in 11 seasons, all eight UAAP and 10 NCAA member schools are seeing action.

The league has also set the match-up between archrivals Ateneo and La Salle on June 11 as both teams square off in their preparation for the UAAP.

The tournament, which will run until June 25, will also be seen on livestream at www.filoilflyingvsportstv.online.
