FAR Eastern University pulled away early and held on for a 74-65 wire-to-wire victory over Arellano University on Sunday in the Filoil Flying V Premier Cup in San Juan.

The Tamaraws charged early while choking the Chiefs on the defensive end to take a 47-24 lead after the first 20 minutes.

Still, head coach Olsen Racela was far from satisfied, especially after allowing the Chiefs to get back late.

"Wala pa kami sa level na gusto namin. I don’t care about the result or the score, as long as we're doing things right. Di namin ginagawa yung ginagawa namin sa practice," said Racela.

"It's all about doing what we've been practicing. Umpisa ok kami, but in the end, medyo nasira kami," he added.

Hubert Cani led the Tamaraws with 15 points in just 15 minutes of action, shooting 6 for 7 from the field.

Richard Escoto and Brandrey Bienes added 10 points apiece, Wendell Comboy scored eight and Alec Stockton chipped in seven points.

Former juniors standout Guilmer dela Torre paced Arellano with 15 markers as Michael Caneta had 14 points and 15 boards.
