SAN Beda overcame a late slip to beat Perpetual Help, 74-68, on Friday in the FilOil Flying V Preseason Cup 2018 in San Juan.

Jose Mari Presbitero showed the way for San Beda, which saw its 17-point lead trimmed to four in the fourth period before securing its fourth win in six games.

Presbitero scored 16 points, while Donald Tankoua had a double-double of 11 markers and 15 caroms.

Coach Boyet Fernandez rued the Lions’ inability to maintain the big lead.

“From start to finish, we should play our game, because if we would not play consistent basketball… at the end of the day we will lose one game it will be a tough season for us, I hope my players would realize that,” he added.

Altas import Prince Eze had 18 points and 19 boards, while Edgar Charcos had 13 points and made seven assists.

It was the Altas' seventh loss in eight matches.

“They gave up second chances. The effort wasn’t there. We need to improve on our execution, and figure out what we really want when we play games… because sometimes they play well, the next thing you know, they don’t,” said Altas coach Frankie Lim.

San Beda will next face University of the East, while Perpetual Help battles Emilio Aguinaldo College on Sunday.
