LYCEUM continued to run through competition in the Filoil Flying V Premier Preseason Cup after adding University of the East to its growing list of victims with a resounding 96-80 victory on Friday in San Juan.

CJ Perez bucked a sluggish first half, as he scored all but one of his 14 points after halftime in a match where the Pirates dominated from wire-to-wire leading to their third win in as many games.

The prized transferee missed all his five shots in the first half but started to find his groove in the final two quarters as Lyceum erected a 79-52 lead after the third period.

"Earlier CJ was missing shots, naga-apologize siya and I told him he doesn’t need to apologize," said Lyceum coach Topex Robinson.

"Told him to keep shooting cause whether he misses or not, he's gonna be in the game," he added.

Despite Perez' struggles, the Pirates still created separation early behind veteran shooter Wilson Baltazar, who scored all 12 of his points in the first half.

By the time Perez started to heat up, the Warriors never had a chance as the Pirates coasted to their second straight romp.

"Hopefully we could just continue the habit of winning. Always trying to compete, giving everything, making sure that we always honor the game," Robinson continued.

"By honoring the game, we want to be giving our very best. Hopefully we continue to enjoy each other's company and playing for each other."

Robinson was also delighted to see yet another balanced attack from his wards with five other players scoring eight points or more.

Ralph Tansingco also finished with 14, Jayvee Marcelino chipped 12 while his twin Jaycee added 11 points, six rebounds and five assists.

Mark Olayon had 17 in a wasted effort for the Red Warriors who dropped to 2-2 for the tournament.
