Adamson and University of the East won their final assignments in convincing fashion Wednesday in the Filoil Flying V Hanes Preseason Cup at the Filoil Flying V Arena in San Juan.
The Falcons defeated the Arellano Chiefs, 79-59, while the Red Warriors drubbed University of the Philippines, 72-62, in two no-bearing contests to wrap up their campaign in the tournament.
Adamson had four players in double figures with veterans Eric Camson leading the charge with 16 points. Jericho Cruz added 14 markers while Rodney Brondial and Roider Cabrera added 12 each.
"This was one of our best games in the postseason. I hope na masustain ng mga veterans ‘yung performance nila. Alam na nila na sila na ang aasahan sa UAAP," said Adamson coach Leo Austria.
Adamson improved to a 4-4 record tying College of Saint Benilde for fourth place but the Blazers advanced to the quarterfinals via the winner-over-the-other tiebreak rule thanks to their victory over Jose Rizal University earlier.
Adrian Santos finished with 20 points followed by Roi Sumang with 15 points for the Red Warriors, whose 16-4 start to the fourth quarter lifted the team to victory.
“Our team is really a work in progress. They can compete on a higher level but all they need is consistency,” said UE coach Jerry Codinera.
The Red Warriors finished the tournament with a 3-5 record while the Maroons dropped to 1-6.
