    Jio Jalalon drops 34 on NU as Arellano Chiefs book maiden appearance in Filoil Cup finals

    JIO Jalalon fired a game-high 34 points as Arellano defeated National University, 94-85, on Friday to reach the finals of the Filoil Flying V Preseason Premier Cup.
    Jalalon led the way for the Chiefs, who clinched their first-ever Filoil finals appearance where they will battle the winner of the second semifinal match-up between Ateneo and La Salle.
    The Chiefs, playing their third game in three days after claiming the Fr. Martin Cup crown on Thursday, saw their seven point lead entering the final quarter, 67-60, reduced to three, 86-83, by the Bulldogs in the closing minutes. But Jalalon took over and scored six straight points to pull away with the win
    .
    Arellano coach Jerry Codinera is pleased with his wards as they vie for another preseason title in Filoil on Sunday before the NCAA Season 92.
    "Napakalaki sa amin kasi first time namin to enter the Final Four sa Filoil, plus ngayon, sa finals naman," said Arellano coach Jerry Codinera.
    Jalalon also had three rebounds and six assists, while Kent Salado added 18 points, six assists, and four steals for the Chiefs, who also got 11 points from Zach Nicholls.
    Lervin Flores also contributed 10 rebounds and two blocks for Arellano.
    Alfred Aroga finished with 24 points, 10 rebounds, and four assists for the Bulldogs, who will play in the battle-for-third against the loser of the Ateneo-La Salle semifinal match.
