JIOVANI Jalalon led the Arellano onslaught in drubbing reigning UAAP champion Far Eastern University, 92-70, on Saturday in the Filoil Flying V Preseason Premier Cup.
Jalalon finished with 22 points, five rebounds, and three assists, and he set the tone for the lopsided win early, scoring 17 in the first half as the Chiefs posted a 45-32 halftime advantage.
Michael Canete added 15 points and six rebounds, while Kent Salado chipped in 14 points, four assists and three steals as the Chiefs improved to 2-0.
Arellano coach Jerry Codinera, however, downplayed the win over the UAAP champion who no longer have top stars Mac Belo, Mike Tolomia, and RR Pogoy in the team.
“I don’t know kung binabalance lang ni coach Nash (Racela) ‘yung team, he wants to see the chemistry, who will fit in the system like kami. Hindi kami nag-iisip kung statement game or what kasi FEU is capable anytime kaya ingat na ingat kami,” said Codinera.
Allen Trinidad had 13 points, while Monbert Arong chipped in 11 points for the Tamaraws, who are now at 1-1.
