KIEFER Ravena rejoined Gilas Pilipinas on Monday morning, this time as a full-pledged PBA player, by reporting for practice at the Meralco gym.
A practice player in previous seniors’ teams before spearheading the drive for a gold medal in the last Southeast Asian Games, the highly touted PBA rookie is now gunning for a roster spot in a national side that’s preparing for a pair of Fiba World Cup qualifying games later this month.
Ravena attended his first practice after the second overall pick in this year’s rookie draft by NLEX went on a short vacation over the weekend with pal and Meralco star Baser Amer.
Ravena, 24, is the youngest in this 23-man pool that also saw Jayson Castro, June Mar Fajardo, Calvin Abueva, Carl Cruz, Gabe Norwood, Raymond Almazan, Allein Maliksi, Troy Rosario, Roger Pogoy, Mac Belo, and Kevin Alas attend practice on Monday.
Japeth Aguilar and Matthew Wright, who attended the team's first practice last Friday, were absent on Monday where practices were still done behind closed doors.
Coaches and players were also barred from granting interviews on instructions from head coach Chot Reyes.
Gilas is set to hold another practice in the evening in the same venue.
