NATIONAL coach Yeng Guiao is considering replacing Raymond Almazan and Troy Rosario in the pool, with both still uncertain for the final window of the Fiba Basketball World Cup Asian qualifiers due to injuries.
The 14-man pool was announced earlier this week, but Guiao says they need to know soon if they have to make changes.
“There are some issues we have to settle,” said Guiao on Friday. “First is the injury to Raymond, we have to know exactly his medical situation including Troy. We have to determine if they can make it kasi kung hindi, kailangan naming mag-isip ng kapalit.”
With Almazan and Rosario in the pool are Andray Blatche, Mark Barroca, Roger Pogoy, Jayson Castro, Paul Lee, Scottie Thompson, Marcio Lassiter, Gabe Norwood, Japeth Aguilar, Poy Erram, June Mar Fajardo and Christian Standhardinger.
Almazan and Rosario missed the season opener of their respective teams due to separate injuries.
Almazan missed Friday’s match against NLEX due to an ankle sprain, while Rosario has been nursing a broken nose sustained during a tune-up match against NLEX last December.
Guiao said the coaching staff will look to make a decision when Team Pilipinas resumes practice.
“We will discuss those things on Monday,” Guiao said.
