BOCAUE — The Philippine teams may have bowed out of the 2018 Fiba 3x3 World Cup, but its players sure proved that they can hold their ground against the best in the world.
Janine Pontejos finished in the top 10 in scoring in the women’s tournament, amassing 27 points in the Filipinas’ four games in Pool D.
The 24-year-old sharp-shooter from Centro Escolar University showed that she can stroke it from the outside as she found herself in joint ninth in the tilt’s top scorers with China’s Li Yingyun, Spain’s Paula Palomares and France’s Johanna Tayeau.
Ayna Gokova of Turkmenistan is on top of the list with 36 points.
In the men’s side, Stanley Pringle has also figured in the top 20 as his 22 points through four games got him at joint 19th place, together with Michael Lieffers of Canada and Dmitry Korshakov of Russia.
Roger Pogoy is also in the top 25, as his total of 20 points put him at the 23rd place, sharing the spot with four other players, namely Shakirzhan Kuranbaev of Kyrgyzstan, Dimeo Van Der Horst of Netherlands, and Pawel Pawlowski and Szymon Rduch of Poland.
Latvian Karlis Lasmanis sits at the pole position in scoring with his 36 points.
