ANDRAY Blatche had his full repertoire on display for Gilas against Iran, continuing his stellar play as the Philippines scored a huge win over the titleholders on Monday in the Fiba Asia Championship in Changsha, China.
Less than 24 hours after hurting his ankle in a close match against Japan, the Gilas Pilipinas slotman suited up to help lead the squad to its fifth win in six matches in the continental championship.
In registering 26 points and seven rebounds, Blatche against used a variety of moves, the 6-foot-11 frame zooming past his markers including Iran’s giant Hamed Haddadi.
The 7-foot-2 Iranian slotman came up with the lone block for Iran as he frustrated Marc Pingris, a player about six inches shorter, but the Filipino forward still won the rebounding battle.
Blatche received the ball, and put up this dazzling move for a five-point Gilas lead late in the third.
