KHRIS Middleton sank two free throws with 2.1 seconds left in overtime as the United States escaped with a 93-92 win over Turkey on Tuesday night in the Fiba Basketball World Cup 2019 in Shanghai, China.
The Americans got away with a win after the Turkish side missed four free throws in the end game to stay unbeaten after two games.
With Team USA down by one point, Middleton got fouled by Bugrahan Tuncer on a lay-up attempt and calmly sank two free throws to take the lead.
Ersan Ilyasova missed the game-winning three for Turkey.
Turkey had several chances to put the game away in overtime but Dogus Balbay missed two free throws following an unsportsmanlike foul by Joe Harris. Cedi Osman also missed two charities on the ensuing possession to set up the game-winner.
In regulation and with Turkey up two points, Osman also fouled Jayson Tatum while taking a three-point shot with 0.1 second left. Tatum hit two of three free throws to send the game into overtime.
Middleton topscored for USA with 15 points, while Kemba Walker added 14 points.
Ilyasova had 23 points and 14 rebounds, and Melih Mahmutoglu finished with 18 points for Turkey.
