THE United States defeated Croatia, 79-71, in overtime to capture the Fiba Under-19 World Championship in Greece.

Jalen Brunson scored 14 points and had five rebounds, and seven assists, en route to winning the MVP award as the Americans won their second consecutive Under-19 crown.

Brunson, whose father Rick had a short stint with Ginebra in the PBA, was joined in the All-Star Five by teammate Harry Giles, Marko Arapovic of Croatia, Furkan Korkmaz of Turkey, and Tyler Dorsey of Greece.

He has committed to join Villanova in college.

The Americans, however, had to survive a late scare as Croatia's Luka Bozic could only made one of two free throws at the end of regulation for a 67-67 deadlock, sending the game into overtime.

Jayson Tatum and Giles, who played against the Batang Gilas Pilipinas cagers in the 2014 Fiba Under-17 World Championship, had 13 points each with Giles also grabbing 15 rebounds.
