TROY Rosario is bent on proving doubters wrong over what some fans felt was his surprise inclusion to the Final 12-man roster of Gilas Pilipinas.
The promising combo forward along with Tropang TNT teammate Ryan Reyes went trending on social media for the wrong reasons after being picked over Calvin Abueva and LA Tenorio in the squad that will represent the country in the Olympic Qualifiers that start on July 5 at the Mall of Asia Arena.
While admitting he didn’t expect to make the final roster, Rosario is out to assure everyone that coach Tab Baldwin made the right decision in selecting him.
“Dream come true kasi hindi ko in-expect na mapasama ako sa twelve,” said the 24-year-old cager, the third youngest in the squad.
“Nandyan naman lagi yung pressure,” he added.
And Rosario, a national team mainstay in the regional level, is even ready to take on a significant role right away in his seniors’ squad debut.
“Kahit ako yung bago sa Final Twelve, malaki pa rin yung role ko na gagampanan,” the 6-foot-7 forward said. “Syempre, hindi natin masabi kung ma-foul trouble yung ibang bigs, pwede ako mag-play down as a big man at pwede rin ako mag-play as a wing so yung lineup lalaki.”
And continued encouragement from the fans will definitely help.
“Sa Gilas fans, sana patuloy niyo kaming suportahan at san i-respect natin yung mga napili.”
