PBA D-League standout Trevis Jackson declared his intention to join the national 3x3 team.

A nationwide search is being held by the Samahang Basketbol ng Piliipinas and backer Chooks to Go to determine who will join Kobe Paras in international competition.

"Nothing is for sure yet, I know those guys are doing the best they can to recruit," said Jackson.

“If they choose me to compete for them I’d be more than happy to give it my all day in and day out representing the country," he added.

Jackson, who played for St. Clare in College, is having quite a conference for Marinerong Pilipino in the PBA D-League. The 5-foot-11 guard averaged 16.7 points, 4.7 boards, four assists and 1.7 steals in the Foundation Cup and he’s hoping that this breakout conference will be a springboard for him into the Philippines 3x3 squad.

"It’s always been a dream of mine to wear a Pilipinas jersey and play for something bigger than me, and bigger than basketball," shared Jackson. "I don’t want to get too excited yet, but it would be an honor of mine, to represent the Philippines.”

Basketball officials are setting sights on the Tokyo Olympics, with an eye also on the Under-23 Fiba World Cup in China this October.

"My whole life I’ve been the underdog, and to be living here now and see how much heart Filipinos play with, it makes me feel like I’m where I’m supposed to be, and no longer out of place.”
