BIG man Kai Sotto remains doubtful for Gilas Pilipinas in both the FIBA World Cup Asian qualifiers and the 20th Asian Games.
Coach Tim Cone admitted there’s no assurance on the availability of the 7-foot-3 Sotto for the two major international tournaments where the Philippines will seek a berth in the World Cup and try to retain its Asiad gold medal.

Cone said he hasn’t heard anything from the camp of the recently married slotman.
“No word,” said the Gilas coach when asked about the availability of Sotto. “Even for the Asian Games. No word.”
Sotto has not played for Gilas since the FIBA Asia Cup qualifiers in November 2024.
As far as Cone knows, Sotto's camp is still working on a possible stint in the US NCAA in the hope that it could lead him to the NBA.

“From my understanding, he’s still working on the NCAA [option], trying to get there,” added Cone.
