GINEBRA coach Tim Cone believes Chot Reyes’ role as president of TV5 will not hinder his job as Gilas Pilipinas coach who he said is 'great at multitasking.'

The two-time grand slam coach said he has always believed that Reyes is the right man for the Gilas job, and not even a new job as TV5 president which Reyes only recently assumed will change that.

“Chot is great at multitasking,” Cone, a close friend of Reyes, said after Ginebra's team practice on Tuesday. “He is very good at doing different things. I know he is a really good multitasker. I’m a horrible multitasker. My vision is very narrow. But he has a wide vision.”

“He sees things and does things at a high level,” Cone added.

Cone also believes being the national team coach is not a fulltime job right now. Nevertheless, the Barangay Ginebra coach also said Reyes has the ability to pick the correct people to help him do certain jobs.

“He knows how to delegate, he knows how to pick very good people and delegate the proper jobs to them and work on their strengths. For me, being the TV5 president is not an issue,” said Cone.

Cone welcomed the return of Reyes as head coach of the national squad, saying that he is the right man to take Gilas to a different level.

“There’s no better guy in my mind. I’ve been pushing for him from the very beginning and when he left, I pushed for him to come back. I’m really happy that he is back," he said.

Under Reyes’ watch, Gilas finished in second in the 2013 Fiba Asia Championship to qualify for the Fiba World Cup the following year. The Philippine national team won a game in the World Cup, beating Senegal in the preliminaries.

On Tuesday, Reyes returned as national team head coach, with Tab Baldwin relegated to his old role as consultant.

Cone sees no reason why Reyes won’t be successful again in handling Gilas.

“I think he has the clearest vision of what makes Gilas successful, not just from a coaching standpoint but from a management standpoint. He sees it really well and he is really well-versed in the international game. I think it’s a really good marriage,” Cone said.
