Thirdy Ravena set for PH team pool inclusion in crunch qualifiers buildup

Reigning UAAP Finals MVP set to become the only non-PBA player in the pool for last window
    Jan 22, 2019

THIRDY Ravena is set to become part of the pool for the sixth and final window of the Fiba World Cup Asian qualifiers.

National coach Yeng Guiao said Ravena is indeed part of the national pool, but the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) has yet to release his name in the official announcement pending permission from Ateneo and head coach Tab Baldwin to join the pool.

“He’s supposed to be the 15th man but he had to seek permission from his school and coach Tab first so we had to withhold his name initially. I was told unofficially that he was allowed to join,” said Guiao.

Once official, Ravena is about to become the only non-PBA player to be part of the pool for the next window set February 21 against Qatar and February 24 against Kazakhstan.

This is not the first time that Guiao will be including a non-professional player having included Kobe Paras, Ricci Rivero, and Kai Sotto in previous windows.

Ravena is coming off a season in the UAAP where he won the finals Most Valuable Player after Ateneo beat University of the Philippines in the championship series.
