TERRENCE Romeo is just thrilled to get the opportunity to wear the Gilas Pilipinas jersey again.
Romeo attended his first practice with the 3x3 training pool team on Monday at the Meralco gym - his first with the national team since the infamous brawl between Gilas Pilipinas and Australia in July last year.
The San Miguel Beer guard was happy and excited being called up for national team duty despite having to try out for a spot in a pool he describes as 'too deep.'
"Excited na mabigyan ng chance na makapag-tryout and makapagsuot ulit ng Gilas Pilipinas jersey," he said just before practice.
"Sana maging deserving ako na makalaro kasi ang lalim ng lineup."
Other than Romeo, also in attendance for the 3x3 team were CJ Perez, Robert Bolick, Chris Newsome, Jason Perkins, and Mo Tautuaa.
Of the lot, Romeo is the more experienced as far as 3x3 competition is concerned, having represented the country in various international meets in the past.
But that doesn't assure him an outright spot in the team, according to Romeo.
"Matagal na rin akong di nakapaglaro (ng 3x3), so kailangan kong pag-aralan kasi may mga bagong rules n kasi yung 3x3," he said.
While he did admit 'missing wearing the Gilas Pilipinas jersey,' Romeo is still hopeful about gaining a spot anew in the men's 5-on-5 team.
"Oo naman. Bata pa naman tayo. Kailangan lang nating paghandaan," he said.
