DESPITE sweeping Iran in its two tune-up games in Manila, Terrence Romeo believes Gilas Pilipinas has plenty of work to do as it takes the next step in its preparation for the Fiba Olympic Qualifying Tournament.
The national team beat the Iranians, 81-70, on Wednesday night at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum to cap off the two friendly games between two countries which are preparing for the qualifiers.
In their first face-off on Tuesday, which employed a different system of scoring where the two teams played per quarter, Gilas would have won the match, 71-64.
Still, it was obvious there are some concerns that Gilas needs to address, specifically in closing out games as the Nationals almost blew their big lead against Iran down the strech of the second game.
"Marami kaming natutunan katulad ng end game execution. Dapat composed kami sa end game tsaka ‘yung zone namin. Hindi kami gaano nag-focus sa sona at marami kaming lapses," said Romeo.
The Globalport gunner was named as part of coach Tab Baldwin's final 14-man lineup set to leave for Europe on Friday fot a gruelling 21-day training camp.
