GREG Slaughter has been left out of Team Pilipinas' 12-man lineup for the game against Iran in Tehran.
Coach Yeng Guiao unveiled his roster on Wednesday morning as he prepares for the second round of the 2019 Fiba World Cup Asian qualifiers set to start on Thursday.
Though Slaughter's status as a local has been cleared by Fiba, an ankle injury put his availability in limbo and Guiao has opted not to risk the Ginebra big man and save him for future games, specifically for the closed-door game against Qatar on Monday.
Fil-German big man Christian Standhardinger got the nod to serve as the squad's naturalized player as the Philippines aim to deal Team Melli their first defeat at home and improve the country's 4-2 card in the qualifiers.
Scottie Thompson, Alex Cabagnot and Ian Sangalang all make their debut for the national team, as Marcio Lassiter makes his much awaited return. Completing the squad are Paul Lee, Gabe Norwood, Raymond Almazan, Beau Belga, Asi Taulava, JP Erram and Allein Maliksi.
