TEAM Pilipinas gets the benefit of playing a lone tune-up game before departing for Tehran, Iran for the second window of the FIBA World Cup Asia qualifiers.
The national quintet, getting ready for a Sept. 13 game away to Iran and a closed-door home game against Qatar, will go up against the IECO Green Warriors on Sunday at the Meralco gym.
The Warriors are composed of a PBA D-League selection led by Gab Banal and Jai Reyes, among others. The team coached by Ariel Vanguardia is using the scrimmage as part of its preparation for the Asia League Terrific 12 in Macau middle of this month.
Following the tune-up game, the national team will practice one final time on Monday morning before it leaves for Iran.
After practicing with a complete roster the past three days, the team missed the services of Fil-German Christian Standhardinger while head coach Yeng Guiao came an hour late.
The rest in the 16-man pool was present - Paul Lee, Marcio Lassiter, Poy Erram, Asi Taulava, Ian Sangalang, Allain Maliksi, Gabe Norwood, Alex Cabagnot, Stanley Pringle, Scottie Thompson, Beau Belga, Raymund Almazan, Japeth Aguilar, Greg Slaughter, and Matthew Wright.
Slaughter and Wright though, didn't join the team scrimmage and just watched the action from the sidelines.
