THE Gilas Pilipinas pool is down to 15 as Moala Tautuaa and Kiefer Ravena are no longer in consideration for the final 14 set to embark on a European training camp for the Fiba Olympic Qualifying Tournament.
Head coach Tab Baldwin withheld the announcement of the final 14 of Gilas although he bared Tautuaa and Ravena are no longer in the mix.
Incidentally, the two didn’t play for Gilas in the two tune-up games against Iran in Manila.
“Mo Tautuaa and Kiefer Ravena are not in consideration for the training camp in Greece so that brings the number down to 15,” said Baldwin after Gilas Pilipinas defeated Iran, 81-70, on Wednesday night at the Smart-Araneta Coliseum.
However, Baldwin noted that Marcio Lassiter and Jeff Chan, two players who didn’t see action for Gilas in the tune-up game against Iran, could still make the team.
“They are still in consideration for the trip. So figure it out, that’s 13 that played tonight and the two,” said Baldwin.
The 13 who played were Andray Blatche, Terrence Romeo, Bobby Ray Parks, LA Tenorio, Jayson Castro, Calvin Abueva, Gabe Norwood, Japeth Aguilar, Marc Pingris, Troy Rosario, Ryan Reyes, June Mar Fajardo, and Ranidel De Ocampo.
Baldwin said the coaches will thoroughly discuss who will make the final cut in a dinner that was held after the Philippines-Iran tune-up game.
