    Kai Sotto stands tall alongside Fajardo, Aguilar and Go in his first Gilas practice

    IT'S easy to understand why Pinoy basketball fans get excitement over the sight of Kai Sotto.

    The kid's big - and he's still growing.

    Now listed as standing anywhere between seven feet to 7-2 depending on which publication you're reading, the 15-year-old became the focus of attention as soon as he walked in for Gilas Pilipinas practice on Monday night.

    Why not? The Ateneo juniors player is big, his body although still lean is proportional, he has a soft touch around the basket and a decent touch from afar.


      To give you an idea just how big, here he is standing taller than June Mar Fajardo (listed as 6-10), Japeth Aguilar (6-9) and Ateneo seniors player Isaac Go (6-7) during a photo-op.

      And don't forget: the kid's just 15 and he's still growing.

      Everyone was understandably so eager to see how the teen prospect would fare against some of PBA's best players as well as the collegiate standouts present during the practice of the two pools of the national team.

      The teen prodigy didn't disappoint, showing his wares during the training supervised by head coach Chot Reyes and throwing two-handed slams here and there.

      Sotto said he hardly struggled in adjusting to the national team's signature dribble-drive offense.

      "Oo naman (nakuha yung system). Ikaw naman kung naglalaro ka ng basketball everyday, isang tingin mo lang makikita mo na agad yung ginagawa e," he said.
