JAKARTA – Korea formally took the top seeding in Group A of the 2018 Asian Games men’s basketball tournament after trouncing Thailand, 117-77, on Wednesday night at the GBK Basketball Hall.
Naturalized player and former PBA import Ricardo Ratliffe had 21 points, while Jeon Junbeom had 20 points as Korea swept its three group matches.
Korea moved closer to a quarterfinal match-up with the Philippines, which sits in second place with a 1-1 record. Gilas will formally secure the second-seed if China beats Kazakhstan on Thursday night.
The Philippines was already scouting Korea on Wednesday, with assistant coach Caloy Garcia in the stands to watch the game from courtside.
Korea took a 62-36 lead at the half and cruised to victory.
