SCOTTIE Thompson has suffered an injury in his hand that could keep him out for the rest of the European training camp of Gilas Pilipinas.
The Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) said Thompson sustained the metacarpal fracture in his shooting hand during practice in Kaunas, Lithuania, which was later confirmed following an X-ray.

It appears that Thompson will no longer play in the remaining tune-up games of Gilas as the SBP said Thompson “will be seeing a hand specialist after the team’s arrival in Manila to determine the timeline of his return.”
Barangay Ginebra's pass-first star guard has been in and out of the Gilas line-up during the tune-up matches in the Europe tour, once sitting out a game in Estonia due to back spasms.

The reigning PBA MVP also missed the most recent tune-up match against a Lithuania select team composed of professional players.
Thompson has been an integral part of Gilas’ guard rotation during the Fiba World Cup qualifiers, playing for six games and averaging 6.2 points, 6.8 rebounds, and 4.8 assists.
He is expected to alternate with Dwight Ramos at point guard in a taller Gilas backcourt than the previous Philipine teams that competed in the World Cup in 2014 and 2018.
