SCOTTIE Thompson has been ruled out of Gilas Pilipinas' campaign in the FIBA Basketball World Cup Asian Qualifiers Window 3 due to a hamstring injury.
Gilas Pilipinas coach Tim Cone said Thompson will be out for six weeks due to the injury. Juan Gomez de Liano will replace Thompson in the line-up.
"We're announcing that Scottie won't make the window because of a hamstring injury that will sideline him for six weeks. Juan Gomez De Liano will replace him in the lineup," Cone said.
The development comes after Thompson won the Finals MVP for Barangay Ginebra in the PBA 50th Season Commissioner’s Cup.
In Game 7 of that series just last Wednesday, Thompson had 19 points, 11 rebounds, eight assists, and three steals in the Gin Kings’ 88-76 win over TNT.
With the length of recovery time, Thompson could also miss a few of Barangay Ginebra’s early games in the Governors’ Cup which opens on July 10.
Thompson played in the first four games of the Asian qualifiers and averaged 4.0 points, 2.5 rebounds, 1.8 assists, and 1.8 steals.
