THE Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas said that FIBA has not issued on a ruling on Justin Brownlee as the federation confirmed that the Gilas Pilipinas naturalized player has received a ‘notice of an adverse analytical finding.’
SPIN.ph reported on Sunday night that Brownlee tested positive for a banned substance usually found in a 'recreational drug.'

In a brief statement, the SBP added that it is now working with his United States-based following the notice.
“The Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas (SBP) is aware that Gilas Pilipinas player Justin Brownlee has received notice of an adverse analytical finding. Brownlee is currently dealing with the situation aided by his US-based lawyers.”
“The SBP wishes to clarify that FIBA has not issued any official ruling as of date,” said the SBP in a statement posted on its Facebook page.
A notice of an adverse analytical finding is related to a doping violation, although the SBP didn’t go into specifics on when the result came about.
Bronwlee’s recent international campaign was during the FIBA Asia Cup 2025 qualifiers February window where Gilas Pilipinas played against Chinese Taipei and New Zealand.
