GILAS Pilipinas Youth was dealt with a 92-64 walloping at the hands of Russia on Wednesday (Manila time) at Heraklion University Sports Hall in Greece in the 2019 Fiba Under-19 World Cup.

With Gilas Youth already trailing by 12 late in the second quarter, the Russians refused to hit the brakes, ending the first half with a 7-0 spurt, with Dmitrii Kadoshnikov drilling a long two from the right corner to extend the lead to 19 points, 49-30.

The lead further swelled to 28, with Aleksandr Shcherbenev finishing off a fastbreak to make it an 89-59 affair with 1:11 left on the clock.

Sotto powered the Philippines with 14 points, seven rebounds and six blocks, while Ildefonso added 14 points, six boards, five assists and two steals to his name.
