RJ Abarrientos is on track to advance to the Three-Point Shootout Final of the 2018 Fiba Under-23 World Cup in Xi'An, China.

The spitfire guard from Far Eastern University-Diliman tied four others in the qualifying round as he knocked down six long bombs in the first day of competitions.

Also scoring six in the first round qualifiers for players in Pools A and C are Stojan Dekanovic of Slovenia, Ivan Keller of Hungary, and Kerim Mammetmyradov of Turkmenistan.

There will be another round of qualifiers for players in Pools B and D on Thursday, but Abarrientos, who knocked down his sixth basket in his second-to-the-last attempt, is more than likely to progress to the next round with the tiebreaker being decided on who made their last basket the fastest.

Armands Ginters of Latvia, Jiang Huai of China, Widyanta Putra Teja of Indonesia, and Luka Stefanovic of Serbia all failed to advance in the side event.
