RICCI Rivero will banner the Philippine team that will see action in the 2018 Fiba 3x3 Under-23 World Cup from October 3 to 7.
Rivero will be joined by juniors players Rhayyan Amsali, RJ Abarrientos and former University of Santo Tomas player Jeepy Faundo in the tournament in Xi’an, China.
Rivero, who is on a one-year residency period with University of the Philippines, is no stranger to internaitonal 3x3 play, having suited up for the Philippines in the Fiba 3x3 Under-18 World Championships in 2015.
Amsali also has 3x3 experience after he donned the national colors in the Fiba Under-18 3x3 World Cup in Chengdu, China in 2017. He is now with San Beda after moving from National University.
Abarrientos, nephew of PBA great Johnny Abarrientos, one of the rising stars in the juniors division for Far Eastern University.
Faundo is currently playing for the Bataan Risers in the MPBL.
Ronnie Magsanoc is the 3x3 national program head of the Samahang Basketbol ng Pilipinas.
The Philippines, seeded No. 19 out of the 20 teams seeing action in the competition, is bracketed in Pool C with top-seed Serbia, No. 5 Slovenia, No. 8 China and No. 17 Turkeminstan.
