Recharged Team Pilipinas all set for make-or-break outing vs Kazakhstan

Team Pilipinas finally refreshed, looks battle-ready in make-or-break outing against Kazakhstan
    Feb 24, 2019

FINALLY getting some rest, Team Pilipinas looks all set for the ultimate challenge on Sunday in the FIBA World Cup qualifiers.

The Filipinos held a light morning shootout less than 24 hours before facing Kazahkstan in a make-or-break game that would determine if they would advance or not in the World Cup in China this August.

Game time is at 10:30 p.m. (Manila time) at the Saryarka Sports Complex.

“Well rested na and ready to go,” said deputy coach Ryan Gregorio in a short message from the Kazakhstan capital of Astana.

On Saturday night, the team held a film viewing of its previous game against the Kazakhs, which it lost, 92-88, and then proceeded to have a two-hour practice that lasted up to 10:30 in the evening (around 12:30 a.m. Sunday Manila time).

Even though temperature is freezing outside, Gregorio said the hosts were gracious enough to turn on the heater when Team Pilipinas practiced and had its shootaround.

“Yes, they’re all good naman. Good playing condition,” he said.

The Filipinos and Kazakhs even bumped into each other in the playing venue as the host had its shootaround scheduled after Team Pilipinas.

Shortly after the light workout, the players and coaches were allowed to briefly walk around and frolic in the snow.

Perhaps just the calm before the storm.
