Ray Parks sits out Taipei B game but assures he's good to go for rest of Jones Cup

TAIPEI - Rayray Parks, Jr. sat out Gilas Pilipinas' game against Chinese-Taipei B on Monday afternoon but assured he'll be good to go for the rest of the 39th Jones Cup.

Parks suffered a Grade 2 sprain on his right ankle in the second half of Gilas' 88-72 win over Chinese-Taipei A on Sunday, cutting short his night. He finished with two points, five rebounds and one assist in 18 minutes off the bench.

The former UAAP MVP is in pain killers and showed up on Monday at Taipei Heping Gymnasium with his ankle in a cast, but assured that he will be ready to play for Gilas' next game against Japan on Tuesday.

"May sakit pa rin pero I'm good. I can play tomorrow," said the son of the late great PBA import Bobby Parks.

Parks, in fact, said he was ready to play shortly after sustaining his injury on Sunday.

Gilas physical therapist and conditioning coach Dexter Areson also ruled out any major concern for Parks, saying the Gilas guard is not expected to miss any more games in the tournament.

But for now, Parks joined Raymar Jose, Mike Tolomia, Mac Belo, and Fonzo Gotladera in the sidelines as Almond Vosotros and Ed Daquioag got their first run-out here.
