JAKARTA – Ricardo Ratliffe said Stanley Pringle as an underrated guard in Asia as he believes he will play a big role in the Philippines’ bid to win against Korea in the quarterfinal round on Monday morning at the GBK Basketball Hall.
Ratliffe said that while containing Clarkson is the prime task, the Korea team will also have to defend well against Pringle, who has played very well in the Philippines’ two games in the Asian Games.
“Of course, slowing down Jordan Clarkson and also Stanley Pringle, keep him out of the paint,” said Ratliffe when asked by Filipino reporters days ago following Korea’s win over Thailand.
Ratliffe knows Pringle very well, being one of his close friends during his stint in the PBA for the Magnolia/Star franchise in 2016 and 2017.
“He is super fast and I think he is very underrated in Asia. I think that’s our main thing. Slowing down the guards,” said Ratliffe.
Outside Clarkson and Pringle, Ratliffe said the team pretty much needs to watch out for the rest of the guards of the team.
“I think it’s a guard-oriented team with Stanley, Jordan Clarkson. Got good shooters too. Can’t let James get hot. Just an overall good team,” said Ratliffe.
