DWIGHT Ramos hurt his right hand in Gilas Pilipinas’ closed-door practice on Thursday night but was quick to brush it off.
The Fil-Am guard couldn't remember how he got the lesion between his middle and ring fingers, realizing belatedly that his right hand was bleeding due to a huge cut.
The wound didn’t need any stitches although a gauze had been taped between the two fingers to close the open wound.
“That’s basketball,” said Ramos when asked about it.
Despite the injury, the 24-year-old from West Covina, California still attended the national team’s practice on Friday night at the Philsports Arena straight from Bonifacio Global City, where he attended the informal presser involving players managed by the Titan Management Group (TMG) of PJ Pilares.
With Ramos during the meet were TMG stablemates and fellow Gilas players CJ Perez and Calvin Oftana, Tyler Tio, William Navarro, and his brother Eli Ramos.
Dwight didn’t mince any word about the chance of playing for the national team again and representing the country in the FIBA World Cup which kicks off two weeks from now.
He feels excited about the experience as he hopes to make the final 12-man roster of Gilas.
“It just keeps getting closer and closer, and the team is starting to come together with everybody,” he said.
"It’s different when you play for your country. So every time I get an opportunity with Gilas, I feel excited seeing my teammates, my friends. It’s just always great playing for Gilas.”
Ramos and the rest of Gilas also welcomed the Filipinas football team which visited them in practice.
