QUENTIN Millora-Brown, once and for all, cleared the status of his eligibility to represent Gilas Pilipinas as a local player.

As reported by SPIN.ph, ‘QMB’ is eligible to play as a local given that he has indeed secured a local passport before the age of 16 – a ruling that has barred a lot of brilliant players from representing the country in the international stage.

Millora-Brown himself confirmed that report, but he stated that for now his focus will be on the Fighting Maroons’ title crusade with the UAAP Season 87 Final Four fast approaching.

“As far as I know I’m eligible,” Millora-Brown told SPIN.ph. “It will be amazing to be called up, but I’m just taking it day by day.”

Should he get called up, the 24-year-old believes he’ll be an asset not because of the numbers that he’ll be putting up, but his ability to sacrifice for the team and do the dirty work.

“[I’ll contribute through my] work ethic, defense, rebounding, boxing out, setting really solid screens, being an every [man] kind of guy.”

‘QMB’ makes his case

While he’s not actively pushing for a spot, his play in his return from a one-game absence certainly did the talking for him.

Amid talks of him joining Gilas Pilipinas, Millora-Brown had his best game yet for the Fighting Maroons, finishing with 16 points, 12 rebounds and two blocks, dominating his match-up against prized foreign-student athlete Precious Momowei.

Momowei still got his double-double of 11 points and 12 boards but hit just three of his 12 shots from the field as he was locked up by the wide-bodied big.

“It’s just finding anything I can do to help the team really,” he said. “That’s my focus every game. What can I do? What are my strengths compared to them?”

He showed his ability to ease into a yeoman’s role for this powerhouse Fighting Maroons squad, never really looking for his shots while focusing on anchoring the paint.

Millora-Brown finished with 8.6 points on 57.6 shooting, to go along with 9.4 rebounds and 1.3 blocks for the season.

With the Final Four now looming, he believes there’s still plenty of things for him to improve, particularly in asserting himself on the offensive end of things to give their opponents different looks.

“I think we always have room for improvement. It’s one of those things where you just keep [breaking through] your ceiling and keep trying to improve yourself, and trying to improve with the team. Trying to find ways for everyone to be better,” he said.

“For me personally, I think just continuing to show my strong defense, continuing to grab those offensive rebounds,” he continued.

“Maybe being more consistent when it comes to points, assists, trying to find a few more in the game. Those are areas that I keep trying to push the limit.”
