    BOCAUE — The Philippine men’s team started its 2018 Fiba 3x3 World Cup campaign on a high note, beating Brazil, 15-7, on Saturday at Philippine Arena.

    Stanley Pringle left the Brazilians befuddled with his one-on-one wizardry as the host team, at No. 19 ranked 13 rungs below sixth seed Brazil in the 20-team field, booked the first major upset in Pool C.

    Stanley Pringle dazzled his way to four points to lead the balanced attack as his late flurry put the game beyond reach, to the delight of a loud home crowd.

      Troy Rosario muscled his way down low for four points while Roger Pogoy's four points came on a pair of two-pointers.

      Christian Standhardinger showed no signs of his knee injury and contributed three for Team Philippines, which shifts its focus to its next game against Mongolia at 6:40 p.m.

      Marcellus Sarmento paced Brazil with four points, while Luiz Soriani got two.
