The Philippines needs to win against Turkmenistan, and hopes that second-running Israel (2-1) bows to top-seed Netherlands (3-0) in the other Pool A match.
The Filipinos took a 4-0 lead and never looked back.
Poland got to within 11-12 but the Philippines regained its bearings and grabbed a 15-11 advantage.
De Liano, Serrano, AJ Edu and Rhayyan Amsali beat Israel, 19-17, in the opener before losing to the Netherlands, 13-10.
