FRANCE knocked the Philippines out of the Fiba Under-17 World Championship with an 86-57 victory on Tuesday in their round-of-16 encounter in Dubai.
Batang Gilas trailed by just three points, 17-20, after one quarter and by six at halftime, 35-41, but simply had no answer when the French started hitting their three-point shots and imposing their height advantage in the final half.
Amine Noua had 21 points while Stephane Gombauld added 14 for France, which outscored the Filipinos, 45-22, in the second half.
Mike Nieto had 12 points and 10 rebounds while twin brother Matthew Nieto had 12 points for Batang Gilas, which now falls into the classification round to determine the ninth to 16 placers after suffering their fourth successive loss in the tournament.
